Half-price advance tickets are on offer to mark a major capacity boost on services to and from London Euston
London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is introducing 42,000 additional seats per week on services to and from London Euston.
This comes as a result of the operator’s new electric trains, which complete their rollout across key routes this Sunday (17 May).
The new Class 730/2 trains, which are longer than the models they replace, are being deployed on routes between London and Milton Keynes and on the Trent Valley Line, serving destinations in Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire. The fleet adds 5,700 seats every weekday, representing a 20 per cent overall capacity increase on LNR’s Euston routes.
New trains, more seats and a Walsall direct service
The trains being replaced will be redeployed to lengthen services between Euston and Birmingham, delivering more than 14,000 extra seats each week for passengers travelling to and from the UK’s second largest city.
To celebrate the capacity boost, LNR is offering 50 per cent off advance fares to London for travel in June, with discount codes available from Sunday.
Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at LNR, described the rollout as a landmark moment. “Completing the rollout of our new electric fleet is a milestone moment for us, representing our £1 billion investment coming to fruition,” he said. “We’re celebrating by offering thousands of half-price tickets so passengers can try out our enhanced services for less this June.”
Passengers are also reminded to check journey times ahead of Sunday’s national timetable change. New additions include a direct weekday service between Walsall and London Euston, departing Walsall at 05:46 and returning from Euston at 18:26, plus two additional Saturday evening services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street.
